MyWay makes travel accessible for everyone. Our fleet includes a low floor vehicle with a ramp and priority seating areas for passengers with mobility aids and parents with prams. Assistance dogs are welcome onboard any MyWay service.
Anyone can request a low floor MyWay vehicle.
If using the MyWay Hawke’s Bay app, just tap the menu icon in the upper left of the screen, select ‘Concessions’, and then swipe the 'Wheelchair /Pram' toggle to the right. This means you will be assigned a vehicle with a low floor and ramp, and with a seatbelt in the priority seating area. You can toggle this feature on or off as required for your bookings.
Alternatively, call our friendly team on 0800 108 838 to book your ride and let us know you’d like a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Please note that MyWay drivers will assist with unfolding the ramp, but they are not required to physically assist passengers to get on or off the vehicle. If you are unable to get onto a vehicle without assistance, check out MyWay’s Total Mobility service below.
Please listen to the driver's instructions for help to board the vehicle. There are some necessary steps you must take to ensure your safety.
MyWay offers an enhanced accessibility service that includes a driveway-to-driveway journey. The vehicle will meet you within a very short distance of your selected pick-up address, and you will be dropped off very close to your selected destination.
If you require the vehicle to also be wheelchair accessible, please select both concessions.
To book a ride with enhanced assistance using the app, tap the menu icon and go to 'Concessions', then swipe the 'Total Mobility' toggle to the right. If you require the vehicle to also be wheelchair accesible, please swipe the 'Wheelchair/Pran' toggle to the right as well.
Alternatively, call our team on 0800 108 838.
You will need to present your Total Mobility Scheme ID, or your Mobility Parking permit to the driver.
The cost of these trips is $5.00.
Please be aware that the ramp on a MyWay vehicle will only be deployed where there is a raised footpath and not directly on to the road. As public transport, MyWay vehicles will only operate on the roads and will not come up your driveway.
MyWay welcomes passengers accompanied by service dogs or disability assistance dogs.
Accessible MyWay vehicles will fit two standard size wheelchair or mobility devices.
MyWay vehicles are unable to carry electric mobility scooters.
